There are many students now who choose to study abroad.  The lure of being in a foreign country and experiencing the sights and sounds of new cities and cultures draws many people to this new and perceived exotic lifestyle.

There are lots of benefits to studying abroad, the biggest draw has got to be the experience of living in another country to your own.  There are options available for the foreign student, doing the whole course abroad, or applying for just one year scholarship.  Universities do tend to offer similar courses within the main subject areas, so there is not usually a great deal to choose from in terms of course choice between studying in the UK or abroad.

The top universities based on the QS World University Ranking website shows that the main universities to study at vary greatly in how they are to be graded to be included, however, it also shows the following are the highest ranked universities for some of the main countries of study.
Harvard and Yale University in the United States, ETH Zurich in Switzerland, McGill University in Canada, Australian National University in Australia, École Polytechnique in France, the Ruprecht-Karis-Universitat in Germany and Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland are some of the biggest to be found.

There can be financial savings to studying abroad, though the fees for the courses and not always a lot lower than the UK, however, the cost of living can sometimes be a lot less than in the UK and this is be where savings could be made.  Many countries offer visas, or permissions to work while a person is at university, so students get to involve themselves fully in the culture and atmosphere of the country they have chosen to study in.  This will give them a much fuller experience and make it much more like studying at home.

There is the experience of studying and living in another country which also appeals to many students.  This can give them more chances of employment when they return to the UK, as they should have learnt quite a bit of the language and this can give people a head start in some jobs.  It also helps to broaden peoples horizons to the idea of perhaps staying in the country where they have studied and trying to make a living out there, perhaps applying to continue to live and out there for a much longer period of time.
